Audi A4 Convertible Ranges from 2001 to 2009 Model Years

The Audi A4 convertible is the special convertible which has ever released by Audi. Why is it so special on Audi? It is because there is no coupe version for A4 3-door model. In other words, Audi only concerns to give convertible version under A4 label, right? Everything on this car can be categorized as unique components. We will explain it furthermore in the body of this post. It means that the A4 is very highest in development especially on its production. In other perspective, Audi likely wants to give something which cannot be obtained on the A3 and A5 convertible. This car is more usable and versatile. As you can see on its cabin now, everything is well-prepared. The wind buffeting was reduced too. One last important thing is the diesel engine which comes into A4 convertible. Let us check out segment by segment below.

Key Competitors

The Mercedes CLK and Volvo C70 are the key competitors of Audi A4 convertible. Although both rivals have modern improvements than other older convertible, it does not mean they can defeat the reasonable speed of A4 so far. If you folded up the roof, you may have useable space on the rear segment. It gives this car more versatility to defeat both competitors, right? The levels of the standard equipment of A4 are categorized as good. Unfortunately, it is labeled by high-price tag by the way. Perhaps, prices are the most comparable segment for both competitors where A4 convertible offers high-quality but high-price either. Do not be sad because the A4 convertible has important features as the standard like climate control and Satellite navigation system.

Facelift

The facelift of Audi A4 convertible was happened in 2006 model year. It was under the label of B7. We got upgraded suspension and steering in the cabin room. For you information, it adapted the S4’s best handling which was only limited for S4 model at that moment. Meanwhile, the grille was redesigned into tall design. The taillights were also different from the original A4 in 2001. This was the last facelifted for A4 Cabriolet until 2009 model year. We do not know why A4 convertible does not on the future project of Audi anymore now. What we can do is just memorizing how amazing this convertible is. The production was ended on the 2009 model year. It was almost ten years since its debut in 2001. Let us check the details of this convertible from the standard of base model below.

Details

We start from the base model of Audi A4 convertible details. This car has 4573mm long with 1777mm wide. These dimensions are actually not too long and too short for a convertible. Meanwhile, the wheelbase is at 2650mm which is standard for A4. The cargo has 415 litre of capacity. It is quite large to carry some items or stuff for your trip, right? With 70 litres of fuel tank capacity, this car is categorized as better fuel economy in convertible class.

Audi A4 Convertible 1.8T

This is the higher version of the standard Audi A4 convertible. With four-seat capacity, this car becomes the attractive one in the A4’s class. It is classy and elegant than the sporty A4. As same as base model, the fuel economy is understandable, thanks to the turbocharged engine. The engine capacity is nearly 1781 cc. It pumps out 163 horsepower with 166 pound-feet of torque. With the help of six-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmissions, this straight 4-engine is able to reach 0-100kmph just for 9.4 seconds. Audi does not like to give the customers much power. They love to give usable one instead. It is shown by the fuel economy of this version. We found 34 mpg for the manual gearbox and 33.2 mpg for the automatic one. Both ratings of Audi A4 convertible are combined.

Audi A4 Convertible 2.0 TFSI

This is another petrol engine version of Audi A4 convertible which is coming with higher capacity and four-cylinder options as same as the previous trim. We found 1984 cc of engine capacity in this lineup. The direct injection technology is able to produce 197 horsepower and 206 pound-feet of torque through the turbocharged engine. This is pretty impressive for A4’s lineup that needs the faster one. WE have to say that you may have worthy upgrade from the 1.8T model with this version. The same 6-speed manual transmission is available for this one. But, we have multitronic 7-speed gearbox for higher engine. Consequently, it reaches 0-100kmph for 8.2 second with 146 mph of top speed. Without changing the EPA ratings, it makes this lineup is more recommended than the 1.8T. It is rated at 33.6 mpg for auto gearbox instead.

Audi A4 Convertible 3.2 FSI and Quattro

This model comes when you really need speed rather than fuel efficiency of your Audi A4 convertible. The 3.2 L FSI V6 engine which is as same as 3123 cc pumps out 252 horsepower with 244 pound-feet of torque. Differently with the both previous engines, this trim has only 7-speed multitronic gearbox. The speed is undoubted because it reaches 0-100kmph for 7.2 seconds. By reducing the emissions into 229 g/km and combined fuel economy at 29.4 mpg, this is not suitable for long journey or trip. Audi also sends the Quattro version for this trim. The different comes when we take a look on the transmission type which is 6-speed manual and 6-speed tiptronic. This model is a bit faster than standard 3.2 FSI.

Audi A4 Convertible 2.0 TDI and 3.0 TDI Quattro

Last but not least, this is the special trim of A4 convertible. It was also the first convertible which has diesel engine especially in Europe market scene. People might skeptical when seeing convertible with diesel engine because of its noise. But, it does not work for this A4’s diesel. With 1968 cc or 2.0 L TDI engine plus four-cylinder, this trim has only 138 horsepower with 236 ft lb. The same gearboxes as standard A4 convertible make the fuel economy rating reaches 44.1 mpg. Moreover, the 3.0 TDI Quattro offers 230 hp but with less fuel economy for Audi A4 convertible at 35.8 mpg.
